Insania--World of Ice, Part I (1999/No Fashion)
Rating--7.9
Furious Seas--RealAudio
European prog/speed, with strong pulls on Elegy and Stratovarius,
as well as bits of both Helloween and Hammerfall. Very swift and fast,
with double-bass work, intricate solos, and sprinkled keyboard work.
Solid tracks show up in "Fighting My Tears," "Fire," and "Carried By Wings," and the slower "Paradisia" has a chunkier mainframe.
A good rhythmic backbone props "With Courage and Pride," while tight riffing keeps the title track on edge. The disc's
top spot is the fast and slashing "Furious Seas," which fluctuates between stutter riffs and driving rhythmic portions.
A capable European band; the tools are all there.
