Iron Maiden--Killers (1981/Capitol)
Rating--7.7
Killers--RealAudio
Maiden's 2nd (and last studio) release with singer Paul Di'Anno. There is a much better distortion sound here than on the debut, and this disc pretty much introduces
the band's twin-guitar driven "style," with bumping bass fully along for the ride. Bruce Dickinson will join the fray following the EP 'Maiden Japan'.
A number of solid
cuts, including "Wrathchild," "Murders in the Rue Morgue," "Another Life," and the swifter tracks "Twilight Zone" and "Purgatory".
A swaying little groove moves
"Genghis Khan," and "Drifter" is a strong closer. The title song perhaps rips the heaviest, and is one of many rough gems on this release.
