House of Spirits--Psychosphere (1999/Century Media)
Rating--7.8
Voice of My Heart--RealAudio
Cranky prog work, though the keyboard presence takes a back seat and doesn't dominate the sound. There is what
seems to be a semi-flat distortion feel at first, but it smooths over with more listens, and fits in pretty well. With sharper distortion
the band could possibly creep towards the genre of the Conception's and Threshold's
of the world, as the songwriting tendencies are somewhat similar. However, they aren't there yet...
A choppy pulse moves "History is Repeating," and a grooving and winding rhythm highlights "Voice Of My Heart."
There
are a number of solid tracks, including "Back On My Own," "Oblivion Nights," "Dark & Light," and the solid chorus thump
of "Back at the Double."
