The songwriting, production, and overall results of this album are much improved. There is some 'Spreading the Disease'-era Anthrax thrashing present, as well as more Maiden/power undertones. A good release, and a vital cog in the eventual maturation of the power metal scene.
The rapid gallop of "Conquest" is a treat, as is the strong and chugging "Angel of Death." Other good cuts include "Evil Reign," "Dark Queen," "Face the Wicked One," and the title track.
