Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys: The Legacy World Tour 2005/2006 (2007/SPV)
Rating - 8.9

The Legacy World Tour is Helloween's third live album, and with its clear production and energetic playing, it is also probably their best. Basically composed of songs from the three 'Keeper of the Seven Keys' albums as well as some other hits, this album accurately presents the band as it is: an impressive on-stage entity. The boys prove that though they are some 24 years into their careers, they can still rock harder than most of the newer acts out there.
On this release the band sounds more alive than they have in years, and some of the songs pack more punch than the studio releases. "The King For A 1000 Years" rips with vocalist Andi Deris attacking the song with gusto. From the beginning you can really tell this is a well-balanced album, with the vocals mixed perfectly with the other instruments. There is nothing worse than getting a wall of guitars and no clear vocals. Well, I guess that could be good, depending on how bad the singer sucks, but Andi Deris is no vocalist of such suckiness! His powerful live performance really comes through here, especially on the classics "Eagle Fly Free" and "I Want Out". Along with great vocals, the music is top notch, with "Hell Was Made in Heaven" and "Mr. Torture" both being hard hitting "newer" songs from the band. It is pretty amazing how they can play older Keeper songs such as "Keeper of the Seven Keys" and "A Tale That Wasn't Right" with so much power and then turn around and play longer songs from the newer Keeper album with equal intensity, with "The Invisible Man" and "Occasion Avenue" being the best examples.
Other highlights include the great 'Dark Ride' cut "If I Could Fly," and of course the mighty "Halloween", which closes the setlist. If you call yourself a Helloween fan and you don't own this live release, do yourself a favor and get it. You won't be disappointed.
