The Haunted--The Haunted (1998/Earache)
Rating--8.3
Bullet Hole--RealAudio
From the ashes of At the Gates rises The Haunted, as the bassist and a guitarist team up once again. This is not as speedy and
technical as the former group, though. Instead, you have an aggressive feel along the lines of Entombed and thrashy
Pantera. The vocals are shouty, there's plenty of sharp riffs, and overall a bottom-heavy and thick sound. An underrated player on the semi-Death/Extreme scene.
Nearly every one of the 12 tracks stand out, with some of the highlights being the riff rhythm of "In Vein," the strong base of "Choke Hold," "Forensick" and its mid-80's
Metallica riffs, and the caustic and ripping "Bullet Hole".
