GWAR--We Kill Everything (1999/Metal Blade)
Rating--6.0
Punk-tinged metal, with rather harsh titles and themes. A good deal of goofy material, which actually reminds a lot of
Spinal Tap. While the band has its followers, it still amazes me that truly talented outfits must struggle on indie labels while other, gimmick
acts get major label deals.
"A Short History..." is a chunky instrumental, and "Escape From the Mooselodge" is winding
and shifting. "My Girly Ways" is a good track with moody female vocals, and the heavier and faster "Jagermonsta" stands
out.
Several other decent tracks are sprinkled around, as well as plenty of funny and lighthearted moments. But...
