Great White--...Twice Shy (1989)
Rating--5.2
**U.S. Sales Certification--Multi-Platinum 2**
Really a huge letdown from the previous effort, as almost all of the energy is gone. Extremely stiff drumwork and overall arrangement,
and that's even taking into account that the band's biggest commercial cut-- remake rocker "Once Bitten Twice Shy"-- is included.
The slow strut
of "Mista Bone" is bearable, and "House of Broken Love" is a true gem with layered acoustic and electric guitar toolings
combining for a great atmosphere. The rest is hard to listen to.
As is the case with many bands, a little commercial success takes all the venom out of the
musical bite. This is a top case in point, as the group is barely comparable to its early '80s origins.
