Whatever--RealAudio Keep Away--RealAudio

Very much like the raw, chunky Alice in Chains feel of 'Dirt,' though wild and unabashed like AIC's debut in choice places, as well. Some of the early decadence of STP seeps its way in, as the chunky and chord-driven sounds are mixed well with murky and thick distortion. The vocal mannerisms are extremely Staley-ish; there are several absolutely killer cuts where the vox can't go wrong...
The chunk and flow of "Whatever" is a pulsing treat, as the rolling chorus is pure drive. A nice groove accentuates "Keep Away," and "Time Bomb," while slower, is a steady piece as well.
"Bad Religion," "Now or Never," and "Get Up, Get Out!" are all good cuts, and the light and mesmerizing "Voodoo" closes out the disc.
All told, a strong showing from one of the "new wave" metal/grunge acts. There are a number of bands who have taken a page from the early, raw Seattle sound of the beginning of the decade and started to re-infuse it with some nasty sounds. Place Godsmack near the top, and keep an eye on them...
