Grip Inc.--Power of Inner Strength (1995/Metal Blade) Rating--7.0

The band formed by Dave Lombardo following his departure from Slayer, Grip Inc. is not quite as frantic as Dave's former band. Instead, they seem to find a niche somewhere between Slayer and bands such as Machine Head.
"Savage Seas" has some heavy intro slides, and a strong backbeat throughout. A bruising guitar march sustains "Ostracized," and the note-driven "Guilty of Innocence" is strong as well.
"Hostage to Heaven" is one of the disc's faster tracks, and "Heretic War Chant" is a powerful ride near the end of the album.
In all, solid work in general, and good to have Lombardo back on the scene.
