Guns N' Roses--Use Your Illusion II (1991/Geffen)
Rating--7.0
**U.S. Sales Certification--Multi-Platinum 7**
A fair number of innovative and interesting tracks, but just not much rip-your-face-off metal. Too much tooling around
with the instruments instead of turning the knob into the corner and getting an attitude. Can you tell I miss 'Appetite'??
One totally smash-mouth track, and it was the first single---"You Could Be Mine." Yeah, you remember. Everyone heard that
track, and thought, "Hell yeah! Here we go again!!" Unfortuntately, that one track was pretty much the balls of both the 'Illusion'
discs, truth be told.
"Good" tracks include "Civil War," the cover "Knockin' On Heaven's Door," the attitude strafe chorus
of "Locomotive," and the solid churn of "So Fine."
Again, lots of interesting stuff.... but it just ain't 'Appetite For Destruction,' and
in comparison it's quite the dissapointment.
