Grave Digger - The Last Supper (2005/Nuclear Blast)
Rating - 8.5

Grave Digger has formed themselves a consistent niche where you get solid Power Metal from them with every outing -- and given the quality of their work, that is a very good thing. ‘The Last Supper’ falls into line with the bulk of the material from the mid-90s onward: crunching and riff-dotted distortion, deep-throated vocals, and clan-marching sing-a-long choruses, which are anything but happy and poppy like some of the European fare of the day. Raise your golden goblet -- and say your prayers that this isn’t Grave Digger’s last supper...

The slow-crawling title track is a precursor to the nasty chordwork of "Grave in No Man’s Land," while "Black Widows" is attacking and steady. "Soul Savior" is pure, classic ‘Digger, as it’s a blend of swift and thick. Both "Hell to Pay" and "The Night Before" are solid as well.
