Grave Digger--Symphony of Death (1993/GUN)
Rating--6.9

At its best, Grave Digger is a faster and heavier version of Accept, often times reminding of fellow Euro heavyweights Rage, Running Wild, and the like. The band definitely knows how to chug when it wants to. The gruff, deeper-than-Udo vocals may have held the group down a bit over the years, but it's an acquired tasted--as the catalog expands, the voice grows on you. 'Symphony of Death' is a 7-track EP. A little added cheese shows up in the lyrics; that will clear out with time.
The top moments here are "Back to the Roots" and "World of Fools," with the other songs being decent rides.
