Grave Digger--Excalibur (1999/GUN)
Rating--8.5
The Round Table (Forever)--RealAudio
A solid rebound by the band, as they successfully tackle the story of Camelot. The songwriting continues to improve, and there is a good mix of fast and slower
tempo tracks. The production is actually the area which shows the most improvement. Pure power, now with bottom-end clarity.
"The Round Table" has a thick,
steady pace to it, and "Lancelot" is another solid mover. "Excalibur" boasts a fast pace, "Morgana le Fay" is multi-faceted, and the light-to-heavy "The Spell" has plenty
of good chops.
Bits of Blind Guardian-like atmosphere show up in "Avalon," helping to make this a very solid listening experience.
