Galactic Cowboys--Let It Go (2000/Metal Blade)
Rating--5.9
The band's harmony-laced rock/metal ways (somewhat) continue--though the music (overall) is not nearly as heavy as in the past. Much of the crunch from the
early albums is missing, and there seems to be a lighter mood and feel to many of the tracks. That King's X/Enuf Z'nuff/Beatle-esque mold is still accessible--but
perhaps it's too dominant. A number of meaningless, meandering "non-songs" take away from the flow of the disc.
"T.I.M." is a good opening track (after
the intro), and some good vocal moments show up in "Flag" and "A Different Way".
Sliding chords move "Disney's Spinnin'," "Internalize" is energetic, and "Hey Mr."
is a nasty, snake-winding selection.
