More of the same from this early-career form of Fates Warning, as John Arch’s vocals really keep you from thinking anything other than "Maiden." The songs remain consistent, and also show some improvement over the debut.
"Epitaph" is a nearly 12-minute track with many shifts and changes, and is bolstered by the strong cuts "Without a Trace," "The Apparition," and "Kyrie Eleison." "Orphan Gypsy" is another that leaves a positive mark.
