Marty Friedman - Dragon's Kiss (1988/Shrapnel)
Rating - 7.3

This is an all-instrumental release from Friedman, back when he was still a member of Cacophony. There are varying style present, and overall this is a fairly satisfying and creative endeavor. There is an almost Egyptian/Arabian flavor at times, which comes across as very refreshing. If you're expecting much of his Megadeth style of playing, however, there's not a whole lot to be found here. Guitarist Jason Becker guests with Friedman on several tracks.
"Saturation Point" is a good mix of tasty, crunchy rhythms with some tooling lead work, while "Dragon Mistress" has an almost Dokken/Satriani feel to it. "Anvils" has some heavy chord grinding, "Evil Thrill" is faster, and "Forbidden City" is a longer track with some real good rhythms covering the second half.
