Reach For the Sky--RealAudio
Not nearly as swift as the debut release, as the band seems to take a somewhat "spunkier" approach. There are still a lot of decent (and in some places quite good) riffs, but not as bottom-heavy or no-holds-barred. Just a bit of a lack of energy overall, I suppose. However, better than the third....
Opening cut "Reach For the Sky" is oh-so-sweet, with the same punch and drive carrying over from the band's debut. While some of the other tracks are good, "Reach" is definitely tops.
"Life in the Real World" and "Mama Didn't Raise No Fool" are both fast and upbeat, and "Talk of the Town" has some sharp chops.
"Hold the Dream" is a strong, emotional song, and the thick chorus of the title cut provides a good backbone.
Other songs sprinkle light highlights here and there, but none on a full-time basis. A good buy for the huge fan of the debut, but probably not for the casual heavy rock buyer.
