Fear Factory--Obsolete (1998/Roadrunner)
Rating--8.0

Securitron--RealAudio
A very solid and steady release, as almost every track is above par. One quick note that must be mentioned, though -- If you're unfamiliar with the band and expect everything to sound like the "Cars" remake, nothing could be further from the truth. This band is heavy and brutal, delivering technical thrash to the hilt. Furthermore, that remake is only available via the digipack release, so be sure to read the tracklist if that's what you're looking for.
Among the solid heavy cuts are "Edgecrusher" with its bruising chorus, the choppy and churning "Securitron," and the ultra-heavy "Freedom or Fire."
"Timelessness" is an expansive track, with deep and yearning vox. Both "Descent" and the title cut stand tall as well, as this band continues to bump and grind along quite nicely.
