Femme Fatale--Femme Fatale (1988/MCA)
Rating--7.7
Waiting For the Big One--RealAudio
Female-fronted '80s metal, with some suprisingly sharp music. Much heavier and better than same-era comparisons
Vixen; more along the lines of Phantom Blue's debut offering. Good vocals as well-- like
Pat Benatar, with an edge.
The steady pace and good notes of "Waiting For the Big One" got a little MTV airtime a
decade ago, and another uptempo pace shows up in "Fortune & Fame"-- with some nice raw chops to boot.
"My Baby's Gun"
is rowdy and sex-fun, and a pulse-chunk rhythm is at the heavy base of "Touch and Go." All of "Heat the Fre," "Cradle's
Rockin'," and "If" are good, with the latter being bass-thick and winding, despite its slower pace.
A fairly rare disc from the '80s, and a nice one to have if you're a big fan of that era.
