Fear Factory--Demanufacture (1995)
Rating--7.8
Extremely tight guitar playing, and rapid double-bass drum work. This all leads to a close-knit thrash feel, much along the
lines of a Machine Head or Pantera---except with a technical and
futuristic crunch feel added in...
Vocally, there is a true mix
here. There are shifts between growly shouts, and then a smooth, atmospheric deepness. Something to get used to, but a
blending that I find very effective and impressive, and which goes well with the music. The deep sections remind of the singer

earlier version of Butler's band. Anyways...
"Self Bias Resistor" is a fast mover, but also features a splendid
slow-down pulse in the middle of the song. Check out the chug riffs in the chorus of "Replica"---pure bliss! Energy and heaviness
mark "New Breed" and "Body Hammer," and a number of other tunes were simply made for the mechanical pit.
