Freedom Call--Stairway to Fairyland (1999/Steamhammer) Rating--8.5

Fast, intricate euro-metal, very much in the vein of Helloween, Angra, Hammerfall, and the like. Reminiscent of '7 Keys'-era music, complete with soaring and multi-layered vocal work.
Songs such as "Over the Rainbow," "Holy Knight," and "We Are One" are fast with swift chops. "Tears Falling" has a good mid-chunk section, and the melodic and thick chords of "Fairyland" reminds of recent Hammerfall.
The slower paced "Tears of Taragon" is strong, and a top highlight is the heavy movements of "Another Day".
Another talented Euro band to watch, and a good buy for fans of the aforementioned groups.
