Final Step--RealAudio Monster--RealAudio

Oooohhh--come to papa! Now this is an adequate comeback! Flotsam is back with a vengeance, grinding out a number of heavy, no-nonsense metal cuts with the sound of 'Cuatro' and the precision of 'Drift', ala Overkill or Priest.
From when the opening track "Final Step" starts to groove about two minutes into the CD, you can't help but bob your head and say "oh, yes..."
The F&J boys say in the liner notes, "Lesson learned: it's OK to be metal." Yes, it certainly is. The grind and groove is back, and while several songs check in as only average, the five or six super tracks make this a solid, solid metal release.
Highlights include "Final Step," "High Noon," "Monster," "Lucky Day," and the title cut.
HOT CHOPS: "Monster" is the mega-groove here. Man, do these guys know how to stick with a good riff/refrain when they have one! The chorus absolutely rolls, and they do a fabulous job of staying with it longer than one would with the average song. Also---the winding grind (and Eric's emotional crooning) on "Lucky Day". Nice stuff...
