Flotsam and Jetsam--Drift (1995)
Rating--7.5

Smoked Out--RealAudio
This album is still metal, and it's still Flotsam... but the sound seems to have changed ever so slightly. I don't really know how to describe it. You can still tell who it is just by listening to the guitars, so perhaps it's the songwriting process that changed a bit on this release. There are fewer of the chugga-chug-chug famous Flotsam grooves, and that may have something to do with it. It any case, there are some good songs---just not exactly the same as what we've grown used to. Still heavy and thrashy, though, which is certainly good!
Highlights include "Me," "Empty Air," "12 Year Old With a Gun," and "Smoked Out".
HOT CHOPS--"Smoked Out" is an instant classic. Its fast-paced, angry-at-the-world feel is undeniable and all-powerful.
