Flotsam and Jetsam--Cuatro (1992)
Rating--7.1

A decent metal album with a few smash songs on it. Overall, however, it's not consistent. The sound is fine---the boys don't do too much tampering with it on this one. It's still the sharp crunching guitars, the rythmic drums, and Eric's soaring, smooth vocals. Several songs seem to dance around grooves rather than grabbing onto them and exploiting, and this leads to the "forgettable" status of several of them.
Highlights include the nasty "Swatting at Flies," "The Message," "Forget About Heaven," and "Secret Square".
HOT CHOPS: The grooves of "Swatting at Flies," "Forget About Heaven," and "Secret Square" are such that if the band could ever do that for an entire album, we'd have a landmark in metal history...
