EZO--EZO (1987)
Rating--7.2
Sounding a lot like the heaviest material from Kiss, and probably a good deal because the album is produced by Gene Simmons,
as he supposedly "discovered" them as well. Incidentally, the "heaviest" of the Kiss material is usually Gene's stuff. The playing
here is extremely tight, and there are chops packed into every song. Pretty good stuff....
Riffs dominate songs such as
"Kiss of Fire" and "House of 1,000 Pleasures," and "Destroyer" is dark and features some excellent six-string stutter work.
"Mr. Midnight" is a slower groove and mover, and "Here It Comes" is sleek in its approach, seeming to lurk in the shadows as
it winds through each verse and chorus. "Big Changes" stands out as well, showing variety with a pickup chorus over slower
verses.
In all, a very tasty little treat. Again, similar to Kiss, only heavier. The followup is even a bit better...
