He-Man Woman Hater--RealAudio Get the Funk Out--RealAudio

The boys bring it all together on this effort, the absolute crown jewel of their four-disc catalogue. A total funk-fest, as it bounces with a lot more vitality than the debut, and tons more than they will ever show in the future. The use of horn sections as background and support give many of the tunes a very "big" and full sound, but doesn't really detract from the hard edge. In fact, the guitars seem to jump out even more than on the debut. Nuno continues to completely shred and destroy, and the power chords are few and far between---he can effectively fit a run of notes and riffs where another player could only go from A to E to D on the neck. Amazing, creative, and exhilerating.
"Decadence Dance" starts out with crisp, nasty guitar notes, and is quickly followed by the strutting, prowl-like riff of "Li'l Jack Horny". Other solid riff/rhythm sections can be found in "Money," "He-Man Woman Hater," and the title song.
"When I'm President" is a snazzy, rolling piece of funk metal. You can feel it coming from the start, and when the drums and guitar finally meet, it's time to swing! "It ('s a Monster)" contains one of the album's heavier riffs, and the song backs it up well. The ultimate all-out jive-metaler on the disc, though, is lead single "Get the Funk Out". Mega-groove, mega-roll. A massive sing- along chorus---just plain fun!
On the lighter side, the album boasts the band's top single, the rich and powerful "More Than Words". "Song For Love" also slows it down a bit, and has a strong and thick-layered chorus, as Nuno shows traces of Bratto throughout. AOR hit "Hole Hearted" has a fresh and acoustic rock sound, and is really the only standard song on the entire disc---very radio-friendly, which is different from anything else Extreme has ever done. A good song, none-the-less.
HOT CHOPS: Oooohh--the sassy little "I don't like what... I see here..." lines in "Get the Funk Out". Just another little snipit that makes this song great. Also, Nuno's rhythm-keeping guitar slapping in "More Than Words". Subtle and possibly perceived as simplistic, but this man is a six-string genius. Check out his "Flight of the Bumblebee" rendition at the beginning of "He-Man"...
