Excellent growth and maturity from the boys! This is thicker and chunkier in places, though the band still suffers from the occasional "Helloween" chorus (i.e., the "happy" chorus). Similarities include Stratovarius, the aforementioned Helloween, and Maiden (especially vocally).
Opener "Tears of a Mandrake" is strong and chugging, and the brutal "Nailed to the Wheel" is fast and punishing throughout.
A number of good cuts fill the slate, including "Golden Dawn," "All the Clowns," "Save Us Now," the back-bending "Pharoa," and the strong bonus track "Devil & the Savant".
Yet another fine 2001 release.
