Eclipse - Second to None (2004/Frontiers)
Rating - 7.5

Eclipse is a band from Stockholm, Sweden whose sound is a mix between AOR hard rock and sharp-edged metal, ala Pink Cream 69, Europe, and Talisman. Some good distortion is featured, with some excellent vocal melodies as well - especially in the choruses. Aptly enough, ‘Second to None’ is the band’s second release.
A number of good tracks dot the horizon here, as this is a fairly consistent disc. "Always Standing," "Second to None," "Body and Soul," and "Something You Do" all stand out, with the top highlights being "Season of Life" and "Nothing Between Us."
With vocals that strongly resemble Jeff Pilson’s smooth-yet-gritty work with Dokken and War & Peace, fans of the aforementioned bands should enjoy this offering.
