Dangerous Toys--Hellacious Acres (1991/Columbia)
Rating--6.7

Fairly raunchy, California-style metal. However, the band toils more with thicker, raw distortion, which is in contrast to the strict razor work that most bands of the afore-mentioned genre use. The vocals are in the gritty Britny Fox vein, and there's loads of energy throughout.
A number of tracks stand out just because they romp through-and-through. Among them are "Gunfighter," "Gimme' No Lip," "Sticks & Stones," and "On Top." The chunkier "Gypsy" breaks forth with strong chords, and "Sugar, Leather & The Nail" is solid as well.
Solid fare, but the band was never able to step up and really make a name for themselves. Still, good for an occasional spin.
HOT CHOP: No as much a "hot chop" as an "interesting quark": The band does produce a fairly justifiable cover of Bad Company's "Feel Like Makin' Love."
TRACK LIST: Gunfighter/Gimme' No Lip/Sticks & Stones/Best of Friends/On Top/Sugar, Leather & The Nail/Angel N U/Feel Like Makin' Love/Line 'Em Up/Gypsy (Black-N-Blue Valentine)/Bad Guy
