Masquerade - mp3

DSG stands for the David Shankle Group, which is fronted by -- you guessed it -- David Shankle. He was the guitarist in Manowar from 1988 to 1995, and appeared on their ‘Triumph of Steel’ album. This release can probably be classified in the "traditional" metal realm, though there are some Manowar-like themes in places, along with some complimentary keyboard work. A couple of bands they’re close to would be Feinstein and early Cage; thick guitars are featured, along with strong bass rhythms. Strong vocals with good range complete the picture.
"A Raven at Midnight" has a chord-chugging rhythm, "The Tolling of the Bell" is a thick churner, and "Masquerade" is nice and nasty.
Other metal staples include "The Widow’s Peak," "Curse of the Pharaoh," "Secrets," and the title track.
