Darkest Day-mp3

This is a band that is very much like Dream Theater - only more consistently heavy. There are shades of Symphony X as well, though it will be hard to get past the vocal similarities to LaBrie. Several absolutely killer tracks at the disc's onset spoil the listener, though the remainder is pretty solid fare as well. A solid offering and band; wish we could have had more from them.
Opener "Living For Yesterday" is strong and chugging, the chorus to "Darkest Day" has a pounding bite, and the title track has an atmospheric slow chug overtop of keys, before giving way to a mid-song pickup. Other high points include the slow-cooking "Adrift," the stalk-and-crawl of "Night Falls Forever," and all of "Machine Cage," "Letting Go," and "The Agony Column."
Fans of DT's heavier works will absolutely love this disc, and people who wish DT would be heavier with more regularity should like it as well.
