Kiss of Death--RealAudio
So Many Tears--RealAudio
The band's heaviest album, and as a result it contains the least amount of "commercial" sounding tracks.
From a radio-standpoint it had it's drawbacks, but from a pure metal slant-- it's absolutly fine. Some extremely solid work, especially
by Lynch.
The overall guitar sound is a lot like "The Hunter" off of the previous album. However, the songs on this disc
are more intricate in the songwriting---more riffs, grooves, and licks. Nice stuff! Definitely a must for guitar players to listen to and
own.
"Kiss of Death," "Prisoner," and "Night by Night" are some of the more heavier songs the band has recorded, and
"So Many Tears," "Cry of the Gypsy," and "Sleepless Nights" are all strong and melodic---a Dokken trademark.
"Heaven Sent" creeps along is dark fashion, but the lighter feel of "Burning Like a Flame" was only a so-so selection as the
first single.
Appearing at the end of the disc is the song "Dream Warriors," which accompanied the movie 'A Nightmare on Elm
Street Part 3'.
HOT CHOPS--All of "Mr. Scary," which is an instrumental with brutal cuts. Also of note is the vocal reverb/delay
on "So Many Tears"---it can be heard on the first word of each verse (by Don). Really adds to the song. A large amount of this
album is very thorough and heavy (for Dokken), which in itself is a highlight.
