Age of the Flame - mp3

Progressive metal from Italy, 'Hidden Place' is the fourth full-length release from DGM. This is a band that weaves elements of a number of top groups from the power/prog genre. They're not simply copycats, however, as they do a good job of standing on their own. However, some comparisons are unavoidable (and not necessarily bad) -- you can hear bits of Fates Warning, early Dream Theater, Vanden Plas, some toned-down (ie, not as ripping) Pagan's Mind, and a few of the songwriting tendencies of Symphony X. Vocalist Titta Tani actually reminds the most of Russell Allen, in fact.
"Age of the Flame" is a strong showcase for the band, with other good songs from the album being "Save Me," "Alone," "Blind," the intricate "Heaven," the snaking guitarwork of "Storm #351," and the smoothness of the title track.
DGM is a band that is fairly well known in the European and underground power/prog circles, and is well worth checking out for other fans of the genre.
