The Dead-End Kidz--Demo (1998/DEK)
Rating--6.1
The demo tape from this NY crew, with a guitar-driven sound that reminds of heavier Kiss and
at times the stripped-down earlier work of Fastway. Vocally, Ace Frehley
is actually the image brought to mind the most often, as the vox are both purposeful and apt. This gives a general idea as to
what one can expect from the band in the future, though the four-track approach used here really detracts from the overall
sound and recording quality--especially in the mixing department. Still, there's promise...
"The Power" showcases a thick chorus, and "I Gotta Know" is steady and methodical. "Heartless" is grooving and winding, and
looks to be absolutely killer once piped over to CD quality.
"Kicked in the Head" is full of energy, as the band displays that they
really seem to enjoy what they're doing. Looking forward to the future projects...
