The Watcher--RealAudio
A more refined release than the band's debut, as the riffs are both stronger and more distinguisable. Better production, perhaps? Could be...
James Rivera sounds the best he has in years, and images are evoked of a nasty Tim Owens. The music often reminds of Winters Bane as well, in fact, and there are shades of Nevermore thrown in too. Despite all these good metallic vibes in various places, the band still continues to just miss on the songwriting end of things. But the improvement is definite; a third disc could be the charm.
The galloping run of "The Watcher" is strong, and a host of cuts are solid: "A Passing Phase," "First You Dream, Then You Die," "The Legend," and "A Choice of Graves".
The title track is one of the album's faster listens, while "Storm Clouds" is at the opposite end of the spectrum with its slower mainframe.
