Dimmu Borgir--For All Tid (1997/Nuclear Blast)
Rating--5.6
This Norwegian black/death/goth band mixes a variety of musical entities into its music: there's orchestration, occasional operatic voices, and some keyboard
work. There are shades of Cradle of Filth at times, and the vocals fluctuate from black to death.
Despite the seeming variety, there's not a terribly lot to grasp here...
"Glittertind" and "Raabjorn Speiler Draugheimens Skodde" make decent stands, but overall this is just a bit too abstract--even for your atmospheric Black fare.
