Cea Serin--Exhibition Demo (1999/C.S.)
Rating--8.5
Holy Mother--RealAudio
An independent demo release, but you'd never know it from just listening to these blistering tracks. The sound is that of ripping, rapid, intricate
European power/prog, in the vein of Elegy, occasional Crimson Glory,
and others. Tight playing and riffs, and a much heavier crunch than most simple
power/prog units. The vocals can be smooth, but also biting, with a definite edge.
Hailing from Lousiana, Cea Serin is chiefly a two-man band. European labels
should sit up and take notice-- this fits their bill perfectly.
The long opening track "Into the Vivid Cherishing" is rapid and tight, and showcases many of the band's
talents from the onset. The cutting riff backbone of "Holy Mother" rips throughout, and "Sudden Faith Pt. 1" is another striker, being absolutely nasty in places.
When these guys get around to releasing a full disc be sure to check it out, should the genre meet your tastes.
