Roll the Fire--RealAudio
The band marks its true arrival here, just a mere few months after its debut. The tracks are faster, the distortion is edge-ridden and sharper, and singer Khan is both mellower and more biting-- creating that atmospheric knack that he toils in so well. The tracks move with vitality, and pave yet another avenue towards the even more stellar releases numbers three and four.
The patented riff/drum groove drive shows up on "Roll the Fire," "My Decision," and "Wolf's Lair". "The Promiser" offers a slashing, 'Operation: Mindcrime' feel, and the title track flows with high velocity as well.
"Silver Shine" showcases the band's occasional knack for slow riffs, and "Soliloquy" features numerous time shifts, as heavy-to- light movements abound. Both "And I Close My Eyes" and the swift "Water Confines" are strong, as this disc puts nine out of ten tracks on the radar, in terms of pure solidity.
As good as they are here, Conception only gets better. Read on, hallowed ones...
