Contraband--Contraband (1991)
Rating--7.0
A nice little supergroup project; unfortunately, it came right around the time the metal scene started to falter. Featured are
members of Shark Island, L.A. Guns, MSG, Vixen, and
Ratt. Pretty much straight-forward summertime Cali metal.... Not too terribly heavy, but catchy.
"Intimate Outrage" has
both the riffs and drive, and a great chorus. More pleasure stems from "Stand," and both "Kiss By Kiss" and "Good Rockin'
Tonight" are strong. A surprising bonus is the David Bowie cover "Hang On to Yourself," which is both punky and metallic.
An interesing tidbit for your collection if you're a main fan of any of the featured bands' members.
