Corrosion of Conformity--Deliverance (1994)
Rating--7.9
Guitarist Pepper Keenan is now on fulltime vocal/guitar duties, and succesfully shines
through. Though not as heavy (distortion-wise) as the previous effort, Deliverence has some
heavy hitters in "Clean My Wounds" and "Senor Limpio". It also has its
share of toned down moments such as "Shelter" and the slow groove of "Seven
Days". A good album, but as mentioned, expect the same mix of up-beat tunes
as slower plooding ones. Add "Heaven's Not
Overflowing" to the list of highlights as well...
HOT CHOPS: "Albotross" is straight from the Black Sabbath guide book of
metal-chug, and the "Clean My Wounds" riffs weave in and out of Pepper's lion growl...
