Centaur--Power World (1994/Liga)
Rating--7.9
Still during the band's early days, a deeper-voiced singer is featured here than will be the case on the excellent, upcoming 'God Complex' disc. This has more of a
straight-forward power metal feel, with the key work playing a minor role. Older , cranky Stratovarius is occasionally hinted at, and vocally you
have shades of a darker Graham Bonnet.
Lots of solid tracks, beginning with the chugging verse rhythm of "In This World". "Heartache" is good, and the slower and
thicker "Trick By Trick" keeps the pace.
"Centaur Part II" has no lyrics for about the first three minutes, and is a flowing and cutting track. There's double-bass work in
"No More Rules," and some rapid chugging in "Break It".
A couple of slower, more melodic bonus songs are added on at the end?"Got to Believe in Love," and the
calmer "Right in Time".
