Centaur--God Complex (1998/B.O. Records)
Rating--8.9
Land of Gold--RealAudio
Power/progressive music, and the best musical comparison would be a morphing of Conception
and Elegy. Sharp, smooth, and crunching.
The fast and slashing "Sonnenkind" opens the disc with some distinct chops, and is followed by the distorted rhythmic
movements of "Game of Life." A steady chug pulse moves through "The Seed," and both "To Be or Not to Be" and "Axiom"
are similar in strength.
Two of the highest points include the note-and-chug driven "Echo of an Empty Shell," which is slow-paced
and cutting, and the rip n' flow of "Land of Gold".
A power/prog band which seems to have all the tools to become a
tremendous player in the genre, and in metal as a whole.
