Crowbar--Sludge: History of Crowbar (2000/Spitfire)
Rating--5.9

A greatest hits type release, covering each of the band's releases. The group first earned some press because of the fact that Pantera's Phil Anselmo produced its debut. I've never really understood the fascination, though. The music (especially the early-career work) is plodding and monotonous, without much energy. 'Equilibrium' and the more recent releases have mixed things up a bit, but I guess it's just a case of 'everyone to his own'. And yes, I've seen the band live--twice, in fact.
The catalog's top spots include "Vacuum," "High Rate Extinction," "Odd Fellows Rest," and "Planets Collide".
