Signs-mp3

This is the first solo release from Hammerfall vocalist Joachim Cans, and oh what a release it is. There is a nastier, more power-cutting sound present than Hammerfall boasts, and the disc crackles with thick energy. Some comparisons would be a little classic Stratovarious, some Tad Morose, some Armored Saint, and perhaps a little of Primal Fear’s slower material. The lineup is dotted with the names to bring the thunder, as well: Mike Chlasciak, Matt Sinner, and Stefan Elmgren all their talents to the mix. Tasty, tasty treats for the kiddies.
"Fields of Yesterday" is a strong opener, and the thickness of "Soul Collector" follows hot on its heels. "Red Light" is a nasty and stalking cut, while "Back to Hell" is steady and chopping. "Silent Cries" has some stop-and-go verses and a semi-smooth chorus, and is matched in strength by the driving and pulse-pounding "Signs." Other good slabs include "Garden of Evil," "Merciless," and the light-to-churning metamorphosis of the title song.
