Cathedral--The Carnival Bizarre (1995/Earache)
Rating--7.0
Carnival Bizarre--RealAudio
More definite Sabbath-like trollings, but this time there's almost a thick, early Maiden feel to some
of the work.
Tony Iommi drops in to lend a chugging rhythm to "Utopian Blaster," and more rolling churn is showcased in
"Hopkins" and "Vampire Sun."
A sliding chord pulse moves the title slab, and "Electric Grave" is thick groove from the
start.
Still perhaps a bit too bass-murky, but the songwriting does expand a bit on this release. Again, big fans of early '70s
Sabbath will eat this up.
