Alice Cooper - School's Out (1972/Warner)
Rating - 5.7

Today's metal community has to respect Cooper for his long-standing influence--many of the '80s acts owed a lot of their image to him and Kiss, and many of the '90s groups tie in to that second generation of heavy rockers. However, even taking all of those groups and tree-branching into consideration, it must also be accepted that Cooper's earliest works are not metal, per se.
Putting aside the classic, stringy-guitar anthem of the title track, what you have here is a mix of lounge music and semi-showtunes. Theatrical Rock, if you will. Again, pay homage to the man for the overall influence his early material had on the genre. Just don't expect to bang any heads to it.
