Broken Teeth--Broken Teeth (1999/Perris)
Rating--8.6
Undertaker--RealAudio
This cranky unit features Jason McMasters from Dangerous Toys fame and Paul Lidel, who played guitar for
Dirty Looks. The produced result is a vintage Bon Scott-era AC/DC sound. Never before has anyone hit the nail so squarely
on the head; from the distortion sound to the lyrics to the hooks and pulls, this is the closest mimic ever. Not Rhino Bucket, not the aforemention Dirty Looks-- no one.
If you miss the swaggering attitude grooves of albums like
'Powerage,' 'High Voltage,' 'Let There Be Rock,' and the other pre-'80 nasties, then you will absolutely dig this platter. Good stuff!
Chord romping head-movers are featured in "Undertaker" and "Trippin' Over a Bone," and plenty of attitude and sway shows through in tracks like "Two Time Lover"
and "Stick It In".
Every track is solid, as the band offers a few faster pace cuts, some bluesy-mood numbers, and then some all out bass thumpers. Again, if you're a
die-hard of the era, this is for you.
