Black Sabbath--We Sold Our Soul For Rock 'N' Roll (1976)
Rating--7.8
**U.S. Sales Certification--Multi-Platinum 2**
A greatest hits package before the species was to become commonplace. It's all here
boys and girls: Everything from "War Pigs" to "Snowblind" to "Sabbath Bloody
Sabbath". A showcase of the best of early Sabbath, but do yourself a favor and
go find the originals! Despite hitting the highlights, overlooked gems will always lurk deep in a band's catalog...
Highlights-- "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" has a nice metal riff, displaying power through a varying
procession of bar chords and strafes. "Changes" is a
captivating moment, as it mixes a smoother, almost fragile Ozzy coupled nicely
with the keys of piano.
I won't touch on what "influence" these guys had
when they created some of the finer moments in metal history! Just make
sure your disc collection has Black Sabbath well represented, and you can
surely figure out how most classic metalheads got the way they are!
