Hollow Hideaway--RealAudio
An astounding step forward. The band's debut had a few strong moments, but nothing that really compares to the collection of tunes assembled here. Nastiness is everywhere, as the Power Metal delivery is much more vibrant and crackling this time around. There are shades of Angel Dust and faster, more ripping Armored Saint, as well as other bands which employ a European-style approach.
Numerous tracks are pure energy and drive: "Checkmate in Red" is steady and fast-moving, "Hollow Hideaway" chops and sways, "Weakness Sows Its Seed" is dotted with bulldozing riffs, and "Behind" is explosive near disc's end.
They don't stop there, though. "Shadowland" moves rapidly, "Meet Me in the Dark" is pure evil chunk, and both "Cycles" and "Into the Never" are strong as well.
This is a solid power metal experience, and definitely worth your time.
